Jallikattu in T.N.: tamer and spectator gored to death
Two persons were gored to death in two jallikattu events at Palamedu in Madurai district and Periya Suriyur in Tiruchi district on Monday. The deceased were identified as R. Aravindraj, 24, and M. Aravind, 25.
Sixty-two others were injured during the event.
In Palamedu, Aravindraj, a tamer from the same area, who worked as a construction labourer, died after a raging bull’s horn pierced his abdomen.
Ranked third
According to police sources, Aravindraj had tamed nine bulls by the end of the fourth round. He was ranked third till then.
The medical team stationed at the venue attended to him. He was then rushed to the Government Rajaji Hospital, but was declared ‘brought dead’.
